Is minimalism out?

The answer: it depends. It depends on many factors including what minimalism is and isn't to you, and how YOU like YOUR home. Minimalist lifestyle can easily be confused with minimalist design. But white and neutral spaces are not required to be a minimalist. There isn't a required number of possessions or rules on decor. Some view minimalism as prioritizing the things in your current phase of life and keeping things they use and love. This can minimize time needed for cleaning and eliminate visual distractions.

Critics of minimalism argue that minimalism is depriving or depressing. Just go to TikTok and search "sad beige" or "cluttercore." For some, beige is calming. For others, it's uninteresting. Some want to display their collections and memories. That's ok. Some like clean lines, neutral colors and nothing on their countertops while others embrace maximalism (blog on this coming soon) with bold colors, varied textures, and eclectic decor. You're allowed to decorate your home however you like!

As a professional organizer, I never tell clients how to live or what aesthetic they should strive for. My goal is to always help my clients have a space or home that THEY love. We work together to find out what is working for you, what isn't working for you and what is your ultimate goal. I help you find functional systems and storage solutions so you can be your authentic self in your own home.
